Mayberry
It is a little known fact outside of North Carolina, that North Carolinians are obsessed with all things Andy Griffith. They love him because he loved them and the entire Andy Griffith show was based on his actual hometown of Mt. Airy. He and I share the same almamader and UNC-CH has dedicated things to him and has some stuff from the show in their collection. Every year, Mt. Airy renames its town Mayberry for 24 hours and they have a Mayberry festival. I really want to go to this festival.
The woman who played Aunt Bea bought property 30 minutes from me after the show ended because Andy spent so much time talking about his beloved North Carolina. My old boss's wife worked in the hospital where she was at the end of her life and she got very persnickety toward anyone who called her Aunt Bea.
You can catch the Andy Griffith show on the local stations in the late morning and many of the local businesses use the theme song in their commercials. It is so obvious that North Carolinians love Andy, that Dave asked me what the deal was within a month or two of moving here. Well, I can't say I blame them. I love it here and I really like Andy Griffith too (except when he was on Matlock).

I love facts like that and how weird. I watched Andy Griffith when I was off-track in elementary school.
I don't think I've ever watched an entire episode of Andy Griffith.
I love the Andy Griffith show. I used to watch it on Nick at Night during the mid-late 80s and early 90s. I can still watch all the B&W episodes with ease, but the color episodes bug me. Plus Ron Howard was adorable when he was little.
Ann, you should watch it all the way through. Andy, Ron Howard, and Don Knots are great! The writing is pretty good for the 1950s too.
Phil - This year's Mayberry Festival is your birthday weekend. We should totally go!
I don't know how I missed this posting before. I have no feelings about Andy Griffith. I am completely ambivilent. Maybe I need to brush up.
