The Reverse Mr. T!

Photo: Murphy's Summer Haircut
Location: Cary, NC

I've decided since Phil is a lousy blogger (those of you who have seen her blog will agree), this blog will have some Bell posts from time-to-time. The picture you are viewing above is Phil's attempt to make me feel better around the time of our grandmother's death. She was trying to cheer me up and thought that giving the dogs their summer haircut would do wonders. She was right.

Off to the pet store we went
to buy doggie clippers with Murphy in toe. Murphy was none to happy with us, since it was the pet store we took her to and not the park. She did not feel special! Anyway, we got the cheapy clippers and went to work.

Murphy's fur was so thick that the motor nearly burned out before we could finish so we had to stop with just her back shaved. What you are looking at is about four hours of shaving. We left it as is and decided it was a reverse mohawk.

We started calling it the reverse Mr. T and decided that Murphy does not pity any fools, as the real Mr. T pitied all fools. Either way, we did not mess with her or the real Mr. T, but walking in the park resulted in a few people pitying her since they thought that such a horrible haircut could only have resulted from some sort of surgery. Nope -- just fools with clippers (fools she does not pity)!

Casey's haircut was less horrible, but also pathetic. He lost his Farrah Fawcett ears, but he felt much better. Poor Casey is always hot. Always! Looking above you can see his utter fascination with Murphy's haircut. He couldn't look away. You'd think there was food over there.

Location: Cary, NC

This is Gene the Bunny. Gene was born this spring under the air conditioning unit outside the Bell's house. Tragedy struck while Phil, Dave, and Jack Jack were away for another family funeral in Ohio. Gene's mother was hit by a car in front of their house while Scott and I were walking Casey and Murphy. It was very sad.

Fortunately for Gene, he was old enough to survive. Unfortunately for Gene, he missed out on a few key lessons.
It seems that he is not afraid of any of the Bell's, two or four footed. He does not run away when you approach him. He just sits and looks at you while he eats clovers in the front yard.

Gene, as you can see, is still in that awkward teenager phase of bunnyhood. He has long, lanky arms, feet, and ears and he isn't quite sure what to do with himself, thus the name Gene. Jack Jack would love nothing more than to chase Gene and catch him, but Phil has put a lid on Jack Jack when it comes to Gene (and many other things). And there you have it, Gene the Bunny who lives under the air conditioner.

Location: Cary, NC

I realized recently that I talk about Jack Jack, but never show his picture. Jack Jack joined the Bell family in March to be a companion for Murphy when we thought things were not looking to good for Casey. Turns out Casey will live another four years. Hurray!

Jack Jack is very cute and very naughty. He thinks he's Paris Hilton. Prior to his arrival, we would walk the dogs in the park and no one would look at us or talk to us, generally just trying to stay out of our way. Now that Jack Jack is with us, everyone wants to stop and talk. Jack Jack's public loves him, and he loves them. They still could care less about the rest of us.
Like Paris, Jack Jack shows everyone his beauteousness and naughtiness, but his public forgives him because he is pretty and pretty people can do what they want.

Recently Jack Jack and Casey discovered that they can play together. They wrestle and growl. Jack Jack doesn't seem to care or notice that Casey is four times his size, which works out well since Casey thinks he is a puppy and a lap dog. Murphy is disgusted with the whole thing and won't play if Jack Jack is around to witness it. Oh doggie politics.

Photo: Phil in her Canoe
Location: Garner, NC

This is Phil in the canoe that she and Dave bought last fall. This is my favorite recent picture of her, so I thought I would include it. In Phil news, she has recently gotten a promotion at the architecture firm where she works. Like my dad and Scott's jobs, all I can really tell you is that she does more stuff than she used to. She is in accounting, but always tells me it is not Math. I don't believe her. Yeah Phil!

PS - Sadly, Scott did away with his Blog, so you'll have to rely on me for news on him again. Sorry.

That is sad news about Scott's blog, I did read it once but only recently. I love the reverse Mr. T.
I think about blogging for my siblings that don't keep up on it (Matt, JILL, and Beebe-until yesterday). Good work.

Great pics- all of them! Edie happened to walk by and insisted we spend time talking about each animal, although she insisited that Jack Jack was a big mouse, not a doggie!

On a different note- we had the missionaries over for dinner last night. We just got a new elder that looks like he could be a Yeagley! A male version of Phil. And he's from North Carolina!

Do you know what part of NC? That's crazy, maybe we'll see him when he comes back. Tell him to look us up. : )

Also, some days Jack Jack acts like a big mouse. For instance, yesterday he sneaked and stole my food twice. Bad doggie!

That half-shaved dog is hilarious!

And we're reconsidering NC. Again. Cross your fingers!
