Fat Snitches

Now that Labor Day has passed, our summer Golden Snitches, as Scott likes to call them, have moved south. In their place all the snitches traveling south from the north are stopping at our hummingbird chandelier feeder to fatten up for their journey to Central and South America.

I got a flier in the mail from our local wild bird store that told me about the snitches traveling south, which would explain why our feeder is still really active, yet I don't recognize any of the new birds. Also, the snitches at our feeder have gotten really fat before they leave. They just hang out for a few days in low hanging branches and watch the feeder and swoop in for snacks, then back to their watch post. They are very cute.

I am guessing we'll only have hummingbirds for a few more weeks. Our weather is starting to cool to the low 80s and high 70s during the day. I am always sad when the birds leave. At least we keep some regular birds at our seed feeder all winter long.

Grandma Nielson has a few bird feeder and the hummingbirds get very territorial. It is great entertainment to watch them fight over whose feeder it is.

Yes, they're starting to look like billiard balls with wings. They'll never make it to Brazil in the shape they're in.

You need to start feeding them salad and get them into the gym.

Your cat is also a fatty. Seing a disturbing pattern here...

I didn't see many birds when I took care of your cat. I did see a lot of your big cat. I also shocked Jill and Liz when I dragged him out from under the bed and they saw that he was bigger than most small dogs. We are having a large amount of geese at our house. Casey thinks it is buffet season again. I hate buffet season.

I also wish that Casey would not eat the goose poop. Eeeww!

Right now we have soggy snitches from all the rain the last two days. They have been sitting on the feeder for long periods of time during the rain. Poor little birds.

I think buffet season sounds nice.

That is because you haven't seen Casey put his whole weight into sneaky goose-poop snacks. You'll see when you get here. : )
