A Handbag for Emily Anne

Photo: A Birthday Handbag for Emily

Emily liked Liz's handbag so much I decided to make her one for her birthday. The outer fabric matches a skirt she has and she wears red really well since she's a blond. The ribbon fastener came from my favorite skirt, which is now unsalvageble. The button came from one of Emily's old dresses from high school.

Phil and I bought this fabric for Emily last December because it reflects her personality. And because she is so silly, we thought she might enjoy her own personal joke that no one was in on every time she goes to pay for something. Emily loves and needs a little giggle whenever possible.

Emily loves green, so I thought I'd make her coin purse green and white. I also added buttons to keep the pulls from disappearing into the purse.

Someday I will post directions for Ann since Edie has to have one. Right now I am just feeling a bit lazy about the whole thing. Someday Ann, someday.

How great that her purse is made of memories! What a lucky girl she is.

oooh, you go girl! Have you seen some of the Amy Butler purse patterns? I love them, but the pattern costs more than the fabric so I just can't bring myself to buy them. Your purse looks similar to this one.

Thank you for my beautiful birthday purse. It's true that I love to laugh at things, sometimes things other people are completely unaware of. As in my childhood years, once 11:00 pm comes around, I become very silly. Sleep deprevation is as much fun as being drunk (or so I quess). Devin thinks it's both odd and fun when I get uncontrollably silly. You make for a much better gift giver than I think I'll ever be!

I love that everything is so personalized for Emily. And it's cute, too!

Anxiously awaiting coin purse instructions...

Geez Em, you can go on and on about the purse Ali made you but make no mention of the nice picture of a dead cat that I included with it. Now I know how Butterball I felt being replaced so quickly by Butterball II and forgotten.

It's true. I didn't mention the birthday note you and butterball 1 made for me. Of course any letter or card you've always sent me have been the best ones I've ever recieved. I've saved most of them because of their uniqueness. I have fond memories of Butterball 1 and 2, especially since they were the last cats I ever owned before I became allergic to cats. Have you guys forgiven (blame Mom) me yet for our loss of Nermal and Missy (Mom's the one who ultimately set their demise...I was only her "reason"...really excuse... to remove our family pets from the home).

I have no ill feelings toward anyone or any cat. Butterball I and II were nice cats. Missy and Nermal were nice cats. I just don't ever want to own a parakeet ever again.
